Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Giza, Saqqara and Memphis
Collection from your hotel or Cairo airport. The Great Pyramid, Khafre and Menkaure, the desert viewpoint and the Sphinx approached through the Valley Temple. After lunch, Saqqara for the Step Pyramid of Djoser and Memphis for the recumbent colossus of Ramesses II. Overnight in Cairo.
Day 2: Alexandria on the Mediterranean
An early departure north along the desert road. The Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, three levels cut into rock where Egyptian, Greek and Roman funerary art meet in the same tomb. Pompey's Pillar and the Serapeum precinct, then the Qaitbay Citadel built on the foundations of the ancient lighthouse. Seafood lunch on the Eastern Harbour corniche, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in the afternoon, and the drive back to Cairo arriving in the evening.
