Most US, Canadian, UK, EU and Australian passport holders can buy a 30-day tourist visa on arrival at the airport, or apply for an e-visa online beforehand. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date you arrive. Tell us your nationality when you enquire and we will confirm the current rule for you.

Nothing is charged when you send a request. We confirm availability and the exact final price in writing first, and only then agree the payment method with you: card, bank transfer or cash on the day. You always see what is included before any money changes hands.

Tipping, known locally as baksheesh, is customary and never included in the price. As a rough guide, travellers commonly give 10 to 15 USD per day for the guide and 5 to 10 USD for the driver, per group rather than per person. It is always at your discretion and nobody will pressure you.

Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities (MOTA) ticketing desks require credit or debit card payments at official site entrances; base tickets are included in booked guided packages.

When visiting mosques or churches, both men and women should dress modestly. Women should cover their shoulders and knees, and it is helpful to carry a light scarf to cover your hair if required

Most ships offer wifi, though the signal drops between towns and in the locks. Egyptian mobile data is inexpensive and far more reliable: your guide can help you buy a local SIM or eSIM on the first day if you want to stay connected.

Guides are licensed Egyptologists and we allocate them by language. English and Spanish are always available, and French, German and Italian can normally be arranged with notice. Tell us your preferred language when you enquire.
