Book Tour

Overview

When the daytime sun sets over the West Bank desert cliffs, Luxor shifts into a cooler, vibrant evening pace. Operating with a private traditional horse-drawn carriage (caleche) and dedicated expert guidance, this 2-to-3-hour evening excursion offers a comfortable alternative to daytime walking tours for families, couples, and leisure travelers. Guests board along the East Bank Corniche, gliding past floodlit ancient facades and the illuminated riverfront. The route ventures into the heart of the local East Bank souk and surrounding quarters, where your guide navigates bustling market lanes, introduces traditional spice vendors and artisans, and shares insights into daily life in modern Upper Egypt. Detailed Itinerary

Stop 1: Evening pickup (18:00)

Collection from your hotel or Nile cruise once the heat has dropped. Luxor is a small city and most of this tour is done at walking pace.

Stop 2: Luxor Temple under floodlight (18:30)

The temple sits in the middle of the modern town and is at its best after dark, when the columns and the seated colossi of Ramesses II are lit from below and the daytime crowds have gone.

Stop 3: The Avenue of Sphinxes (19:15)

Walk part of the restored processional avenue that ran three kilometres to Karnak, lined with sphinxes and lit along its length since the 2021 reopening.

Stop 4: Horse-drawn carriage along the corniche (19:45)

A caleche ride along the Nile corniche, past the old Winter Palace hotel and the ferry landing, which is how locals have moved around the town for a century.

Stop 5: Luxor souk (20:15)

The evening market away from the tourist strip: spices, herbs, textiles and produce, with your guide handling prices so you can browse without being pressed.

Stop 6: Return transfer (21:00)

Back to your hotel or cruise. This works well on an arrival evening, before the early starts that the temples and tombs require.

Is the price per person or for the whole group?

On this Luxor tour the published rate is $120 for one traveller, $50 each for two, $45 each for three, and $44 each from four people upward. All prices on this page are in US dollars per person, and the rate drops as the group grows because the vehicle, guide and driver are shared across more travellers.
