Book Tour

Overview

Combining professional travel portraiture with expert archaeological logistics, this private photography tour is designed for couples, families, solo travelers, and content creators seeking high-resolution images in Luxor. Operating during early morning golden hour or late afternoon sunset, the session bypasses harsh overhead sunlight and high-traffic tour bus windows. Guests select their preferred backdrops—ranging from the 134 sandstone columns of Karnak's Great Hypostyle Hall and the terraced architecture of Hatshepsut Temple to traditional wooden feluccas along the Nile River. Your photographer handles lighting setups, framing, and permit coordination, while your guide manages site pacing and access. Within 48 to 72 hours, clients receive a curated digital gallery of professionally color-graded, high-resolution edited images alongside raw files. Detailed Itinerary

Stop 1: Pre-dawn pickup (05:00)

Collection from your hotel or cruise. The whole day is scheduled around light rather than opening hours, which is why it starts before sunrise.

Stop 2: First light at the Colossi of Memnon (05:45)

The two seated statues face east, so they are lit from the front at sunrise with the Theban hills still in shadow behind them.

Stop 3: Hatshepsut's temple at sunrise (06:15)

The terraces face east into the rising sun and the cliff behind turns from grey to orange over about twenty minutes. Your guide positions you before the coaches arrive.

Stop 4: Medinet Habu for colour work (07:30)

The deeply cut reliefs still carry original paint and the low morning sun rakes across them, which is when the carving reads best. Interior light is dim; a fast lens or a high ISO helps more than a tripod here.

Stop 5: Midday break (10:30)

Return to your hotel through the worst of the light and heat. Editing, backup and rest.

Stop 6: Karnak in the late afternoon (16:00)

The Great Hypostyle Hall with side light through the clerestory windows, and the sacred lake for reflections. Tripod permits are arranged in advance where they are required.

Stop 7: Luxor Temple at blue hour (18:00)

The floodlights come on while there is still colour in the sky, which is the twenty-minute window where the temple and the sky balance in one exposure.

Stop 8: Return transfer (19:15)

Back to your hotel. Balloon flights and felucca sessions can be added for aerial and river angles.

The tour price includes all standard admission tickets required for the visits and activities listed in this itinerary. Optional visits and special-access upgrades outside the listed itinerary cost extra.

What are the official rules regarding professional camera gear inside Luxor temples?

The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism allows standard digital SLR and mirrorless cameras with handheld lenses without extra fees; using large tripods, external lighting stands, or commercial rigs requires specialized site permits.

You will receive a secure digital download link to your retouched photo gallery within 48 to 72 hours after the session completes.

What clothing should I wear for a temple photo shoot?

Bold solid colors (such as red, emerald green, white, or deep blue) contrast beautifully against the beige sandstone walls; we recommend bringing a secondary outfit for location changes.

Can we schedule a sunset photo shoot instead of an early morning session?

Yes, afternoon sessions typically begin around 03:30 PM to utilize late afternoon light at Luxor Temple or aboard a private Nile felucca during sunset.

Is this photo tour suitable for proposals or engagement sessions?

Yes, the itinerary can be customized discreetly for surprise proposals, anniversary portraits, or engagement sessions with private coordination between you and your photographer.

I am travelling with children. Do they pay the full price?

Is the price per person or for the whole group?

On this Luxor tour the published rate is $30 per person at any group size. All prices on this page are in US dollars per person. Holiday departures over Christmas, New Year and Easter are quoted separately as they carry a supplement.
