Overview
While daytime visits to the Giza Plateau highlight the monumental architecture of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, the evening Sound and Light Show offers an atmospheric historical narrative set directly against the illuminated desert backdrop. Operating under the official management of Misr Company for Sound, Light & Cinema, the performance is viewed from open-air grandstands directly facing the Sphinx and the three Great Pyramids. The dramatic production uses lighting effects, laser projections, and a symphonic soundtrack to trace 4,000 years of pharaonic history—detailing Old Kingdom engineering, royal burial theology, and the rediscovery of the Memphite Necropolis. Private air-conditioned vehicle transfers ensure seamless door-to-door transport from any Cairo or Giza hotel. Detailed Itinerary
Stop 1: Evening pickup (18:30)
Collection from your hotel in Cairo or Giza, timed to the show in your chosen language. Performance times shift with the season, earlier in winter and later in summer.
Stop 2: Arrival and seating (19:15)
The grandstand faces the Sphinx with the three pyramids behind it. Seating is unallocated, so arriving before the doors fill gives you a central position.
Stop 3: The show (19:45)
Around an hour. The Sphinx narrates the story of the plateau, from Khufu's builders through Tutankhamun and Ramesses, while coloured lighting picks out each pyramid in turn and projections play across the stone. Evenings are cool on the plateau even in summer; bring a layer.
Stop 4: Photographs after the finale (20:45)
The lighting stays on briefly after the narration ends, which is the best moment for photographs of the lit pyramids without the crowd standing in front of you.
Stop 5: Return transfer (21:00)
Drive back to your hotel. Shows run in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Arabic on a fixed weekly rota, so tell us your language and we will confirm which evenings work.
