Camel Ride at the Pyramids

Camel Ride at the Pyramids

A one-hour camel ride across the Giza plateau to the panoramic viewpoint, arranged at a fixed price with a vetted handler.

Book Tour

Overview

The classic photograph of the Giza pyramids, with all three in one frame, is taken from the desert plateau behind them. A camel is the traditional way to get there. This is a short, simple add-on rather than a full tour: one hour on the sand, out to the panoramic viewpoint and back. What it removes is the haggling. The camel is booked in advance at a fixed price with a handler we work with regularly, so there is no negotiation at the gate and no request for extra money halfway through the ride. Beginners are fine. The handler leads the animal on foot the whole way and helps you mount and dismount. Horses and horse-drawn carriages can be substituted on request. FAQ

Are entrance tickets included in the price?

The price covers your private licensed guide, the air-conditioned vehicle and the driver. Site entrance tickets are quoted separately so you only pay for what you choose to enter. Your written proposal lists every ticket and its cost before you pay anything.

Can I be collected from a Nile cruise instead of a hotel?

Yes. Pickup from a moored cruise ship, a hotel, the airport or the train station all work; just tell us where you will be. If your ship is double-moored, your guide meets you on the dock side and walks you across.

I am travelling with children. Do they pay the full price?

Children under 6 travel free of charge on this tour. Ages 6 to 11.99 pay 50 per cent of the tour price, and from 12 years a child pays the full adult rate. Tell us your children's ages when you enquire and the quote reflects them.

Is the price per person or for the whole group?

On this Cairo tour the published rate is $185 for one traveller, $140 each for two, and $120 each from three people upward. All prices on this page are in US dollars per person, and the rate drops as the group grows because the vehicle, guide and driver are shared across more travellers. Holiday departures over Christmas, New Year and Easter are quoted separately as they carry a supplement.

How do I book this tour?
