Sinai Day Trip from Hurghada

Sinai Day Trip from Hurghada

A long day crossing to the Sinai peninsula to visit Saint Catherine's Monastery at the foot of Mount Sinai.

Book Tour

Overview

Saint Catherine's Monastery has been continuously inhabited since the sixth century, which makes it one of the oldest working monasteries on earth. It sits in a granite valley at the foot of the mountain identified in Jewish, Christian and Islamic tradition as the place where Moses received the commandments. The monastery holds a library of ancient manuscripts second only to the Vatican's, and a chapel built around the site traditionally identified as the Burning Bush. Be clear about the commitment before booking: this is a very early start and a long day on the road from Hurghada. Opening hours are short and the monastery closes to visitors on Fridays, Sundays and Orthodox holidays, so departure dates are limited. Bring your passport for the checkpoints. FAQ

Do I need to be able to swim?

Life jackets are provided and the crew stays with the group in the water, so confident non-swimmers can usually take part in surface activities. If you cannot swim at all, tell us when booking and we will confirm whether this particular trip works for you or suggest a dry alternative such as the glass bottom boat or submarine.

Is equipment included, or should I bring my own?

Masks, snorkels, fins and life jackets are provided and sanitised between trips. Bring a towel, swimwear, reef-safe sunscreen and a waterproof phone case. If you prefer your own mask for fit, you are welcome to bring it.

What if I get seasick?

The Red Sea is usually calm in the morning and choppier after midday, so most trips do the main stops early. Take your medication about an hour before boarding, sit on the lower deck near the centre of the boat and keep your eyes on the horizon. Tell the crew and they will find you the steadiest spot.

Are hotel transfers included?

Yes. You are collected from your hotel in Hurghada, Makadi, Sahl Hasheesh or El Gouna and returned there afterwards. Tell us your hotel name when booking so we can confirm the pickup time, which varies by area.

I am travelling with children. Do they pay the full price?

Children under 6 travel free of charge on this tour. Ages 6 to 11.99 pay 50 per cent of the tour price, and from 12 years a child pays the full adult rate. Tell us your children's ages when you enquire and the quote reflects them.

Is the price per person or for the whole group?

On this Hurghada trip the published rate is $165 for one traveller, $130 each for two, and $110 each from three people upward. All prices on this page are in US dollars per person, and the rate drops as the group grows because the vehicle, guide and driver are shared across more travellers. Holiday departures over Christmas, New Year and Easter are quoted separately as they carry a supplement.

How do I book this tour?
