Overview
Luxor is roughly four hours west of Hurghada across the Eastern Desert, and it is the single best reason to leave the Red Sea coast for a day. The drive starts before dawn so you reach the West Bank while the tombs are still cool. You visit the Valley of the Kings, the terraced Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari and the Colossi of Memnon, break for lunch, then cross to the East Bank for Karnak, the largest religious complex ever built. It is a demanding day: around eight hours in the vehicle in total. If you would rather not do it in one go, the same itinerary is available with an overnight in Luxor, which also opens up the sunrise balloon flight. Trip information Duration: Full Day Schedule: Daily Tour location: Hurghada and the Red Sea Pickup location: Your hotel in Hurghada, Makadi, Sahl Hasheesh or El Gouna Tour type: Private
