Luxor's East Bank is home to Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple and the living city along the Nile. The West Bank is where ancient Egyptians built royal tombs and mortuary temples, including the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and the Colossi of Memnon. For a first visit, most travelers should see both sides, either as one full day or two slower half-day tours.
